Energy Management

We aim to reduce the carbon footprint of our operations by conserving energy and switching to renewable energy sources where possible.

Carbon Footprint

At QVC Group, we understand that climate change is without a doubt one of the most pressing challenges facing the planet and humanity today. As a global company that believes in doing things the right way, we have a responsibility to reduce the impact our operations have on the planet in the creation of greenhouse gas emissions.

  • Scope 1 Emissions: Direct emissions from combustible fuels and other sources that occur directly on-site.
  • Scope 2 Emissions: Emissions that occur off-site to produce electricity or steam purchased for use at a company’s location.

The boundary of our environmental footprint is QVC (all markets), and HSN (Cornerstone Brands are excluded due to lack of available data). This boundary therefore accounts for 89% of QVC Group revenues and was originally conducted in 2018 with a look back at 2017 data for comparison purposes. Given this, we consider our baseline year to be 2018. The coverage of our carbon footprint includes 100% of emissions for scopes 1 and 2. Our carbon footprints for 2018-2023 have been verified by a third party and our assurance statements can be found here.

Scope 1 & 2 Greenhouse Gas Emissions Target

Reduce scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions from operations worldwide by 50% by 2030 from a 2018 baseline.

Energy Management Best Practices

At our UK Contact and Fulfillment centers, we have seen significant improvement in energy efficiency from our 2018 baseline year to 2023. This achievement is a result of our energy management practices and the implementation of various energy reduction initiatives and projects, such as:

  • Upgrading to new efficient Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning equipment (HVAC).
  • Refurbishing office space
  • Installing and optimizing a Building Management Systems.
  • Working towards 100% LED lighting (internal and external) coupled with smart sensor technology.
  • Implementing detailed metering systems and platforms.
  • Prioritizing renewable energy infrastructure.
  • Since 2018, installing a 1.1MW solar system with 2,400 panels on the fulfilment center roof in Knowsley and 571Kw solar system with 1,400 panels on our HQ in Brugherio.
