Greener Together

QVC International’s Environmental Sustainability Business Resource Groups
In 2022, QVC launched Environmental Sustainability Business Resource Groups (ESBRGs) for team members in UK, Germany, Italy and Japan. They are designed to infuse extra enthusiasm and expertise to address sustainability issues both in our operations and communities. These groups have already engaged 70+ active members to make an impact.

ESBRG’s Aspirational Statement:

'If we believe that a sustainable way to retail must protect our environment, just imagine what we can achieve together by creating an engaging, structured community of passionate team members across all markets and functions to drive QVC to the achievement of its environmental sustainability goals'

To date ESBRGs have:

  • Increased communication and engagement of environmental sustainability initiatives across our sites – including team member quizzes, townhalls & Connect and Learn sessions.
  • Launched campaigns to collaborate with external partners to enhance biodiversity through initiatives such as boosting bee populations, tree planting and recycling of old electronics.
  • Joined in with community clean ups using our paid volunteer days from QVCs TOGETHER for GOOD Program including beaches, and local farms.
  • Planned and executed a QVC UK on-air ‘Power Saving’ hour, coordinating and scheduling a programme in celebration of an environmental day ‘Earth Hour*’.
    * Earth Hour is your time to switch off (Electricity) and dedicate an hour to help bring our world back to life. You can do this any way you like, by spending 60 minutes doing something positive for our planet.

ESBRG Germany

Our ESBRG in Germany has been actively focused on increasing biodiversity through a partnership with Hektar Nektar who have launched PROJEKT 2028, the largest digital bee protection movement in the German-speaking world. Together we are tackling the decline of bees and insects in a holistic way. Everyone can contribute and help ensure that we can continue to walk through blooming landscapes and eat local fruit and vegetables in the future.

We support Projekt 2028 and make an important contribution to species protection with the bee colonies at our locations. In this way, bee protection can be experienced by our employees and inspired to get involved in preserving nature, because we all have an ecological responsibility and can achieve something even with small activities. In 2024, 200,000 bees made home in our Huckelhoven and Dusseldorf locations.

ESBRG UK

Our UK team has been focused on engagement and communication, aiming to provide our customer with more information about the initiatives we have in place across our UK locations.

The group has launched a dedicated Environmental Sustainability Page ‘Our Steps to Sustainability’ – a first for QVC Group. On this page, you can watch our newly created UK Environmental Sustainability video and find detail information about our partnerships.

Environmental Sustainability & Green Teams in the US

Our first ‘Green Team’ launched in our Bethlehem, Pennsylvania fulfilment center in 2023. The team takes on practical, problem-solving projects each quarter, from tracking down energy savings to hands-on work in the local community. They are important collaborators as we work on pilot projects for recycling innovation, waste reduction and towards external zero waste certifications.

We empower teams that can work towards achieving our landfill diversion and elimination goals with 20 to 40 members per site, they have tackled areas such as implementing a pallet wrap recycling program as well as hosting a “Green Month” in April to educate and inspire fellow team members to think about how they can prevent non-recyclable waste.

We are looking to launch Green Teams in an additional seven US locations by end of 2025.
